Here is a common question we get about flooring:

How should I maintain the flooring?

I have talked about maintenance in the past, but I really believe this is one of the most important things you can tackle when it comes to keeping your flooring looking sharp.

First always use mats inside and outside your door!

Second if the flooring is a hard surface like hardwood, laminate, cork, bamboo or exotics you need to sweep often.

Third check for specific maintenance instructions for the flooring you have. Boni-Kemi is the brand we typically recommend. Never over wet a wood based flooring.

Proper maintenance will always extend the life of your flooring and preserve the "like new" look of the floor longer. All floors will take wear and tear as time goes forward, but the critical difference between a long term floor and a floor that looks terrible in just a few years is often maintenance.

Well I think the merchandising and marketing teams have got together to give me a coronary.

The fact that you can buy SOLID hardwood for only $2.49 per foot is really hard to imagine. Frankly that is below cost for 99% of solid 3/4" hardwood so it defies logic in most ways, but I guess when we say we are running a clearance we are running a clearance.

Option 2: Solid 3/4" Golden Sunset (I think this is Birch)

The daily pallet(s) of samples is very impressive. Kudos to Kirk who apparently built his own home/cabin and installed the flooring with superlative results. What a stunning Cabin. That looks like a real dream place to spend some quality time.

To celebrate Earth Day and ultimately Earth week we have joined with a great enterprise called Trees for the Future.

We hope to help plant more than 20,000 trees this week alone and hope to have similar programs in the future. Planting trees which really are the ultimate renewable resource is critical to reducing carbon, maintaining sustainable forestry products and even wild habitat.

iFLOOR will commit to planting 10 trees for every $1,000 in flooring material purchases, Monday, April 21 through Saturday, April 26. Our goal is to plant some 20,000 trees.

In the past week I have the great pleasure of visiting our Orlando, Melbourne, Oakland Park Florida stores as well as the Charlotte North Carolina store and then capped my trip with a visit to Dalton and Atlanta in Georgia. The prior week in Tempe and Denver.

It was great to catch up with everyone, but my time was fully committed therefore I have been remiss in posting. Sorry about that! It's hard to find time to get it all done sometimes.

I was looking at airplanes most of the last 10 days so I am sharing a picture with you.

Expect more posts this week - about flooring! What a novel idea...

Brooke is brilliant. She went on Craig's List found a picnic table for kids we can set up in the showroom and with that plus some crayons and coloring books the kids shopping with their parents are happy, content and truly filled with joy because Brooke cared about them.

The parents appreciate the obvious benefit of having the kids occupied with the important task of coloring while they can shop and select flooring with greater focus.

Get it while it lasts. We have a couple truckloads of Tigerwood from the contractor's choice collection that is a STUNNING buy. Get it before it is gone. The supplier of this product must have lost his mind - this is below the cost of what many retailers pay for the product. (compare with BR111 5" tigerwood prices at $13.00!)
